Charities Henry is Supporting
Henry Street Settlement opens doors of opportunity to enrich lives and enhance human progress for Lower East Side residents and other New Yorkers through social services, arts, and health care programs.
Founded in 1893 by social work pioneer Lillian Wald and based on Manhattan's Lower East Side, the Henry Street Settlement delivers a wide range of social service and arts programming to more than 50,000 New Yorkers each year. Distinguished by a profound connection to its neighbors, a willingness to address new problems with swift and innovative solutions, and a strong record of accomplishment, Henry Street challenges the effects of urban poverty by helping families achieve better lives for themselves and their children.
Henry Street's core divisions include a multidisciplinary arts center, shelter and supportive services, behavioral and health services, senior services, home care services, a workforce development center, day care centers, and after school and summer programs for neighborhood youth.

Neighbourhood drop in center with programming for children and youth in Winnipeg's inner city
Founded in 1976, Rossbrook House is a neighbourhood centre for children, youth, and young adults. It offers a constant alternative to the destructive environment of the streets.
At her investiture into the Order of Canada in 1983, Rossbrook House founder Sister Geraldine MacNamara captured the essence of its mission:
No child who does not want to be alone, should ever have to be.
The vision of Rossbrook House is well expressed in the Creator's response to the prophet Micah:
What is required of us is simply this: to act justly, to love tenderly, and to walk humbly with our God.
This is the goal, dream, and persistent endeavour of Rossbrook House, as we work to create and maintain a constant alternative to the destructive environment of the streets.
